A pallet or skid gets built around the load sitting on it, not pulled off a rack and hoped to fit. We start with the footprint of the item, where its weight actually sits, and how it needs to be picked up, two-way entry, four-way entry, or by crane straps. That decides stringer size, deck spacing, and whether it needs a full skid base instead of an open pallet.

A pallet built without that thought shows it fast. Deck boards spaced too wide let narrow feet or wheels punch straight through. Stringers cut too thin flex under load and crack at the fork pockets after a few lifts. Both failures usually show up mid transport, not in the yard where they can still be fixed.

Ask what the deck spacing is built for and whether the stringers are rated for the actual weight, not just a standard size. For anything sitting outside or on the ground for storage, ask for treated lumber, since untreated pine picks up moisture fast in this climate and starts to rot from the bottom up within a season.

How it runs

  1. Measure the Load We check the footprint, weight, and balance point of what's going on the pallet.
  2. Choose Construction Stringer or block style gets picked based on weight and how it will be lifted.
  3. Cut and Assemble Deck boards and stringers are cut and nailed or screwed to spec.
  4. Fit Check The load goes on the finished pallet to confirm spacing and balance before it ships.
  5. Reinforce Blocking or banding is added if the load needs extra hold during transit.
